What is © Copyright?

The text and images on this website are known as "intellectual property". In law, they are hardly different from other forms of property (such as your computer), as the creation of text and images requires personal skill, equipment, time and money. To take and distribute text and images without consent is a form of theft, and is therefore illegal. In particular, the images on this web site are not royalty free, and a fee is required for each specific usage. All of the images have been visibly and invisibly watermarked so that they can be identified. International law now permits substantial penalties for infringement of copyright.

Prints and Copyright

By purchasing a print you are buying a work of art for the purpose of decoration and as a collectors’ item. You may re-sell the print as a copyright protected work of art, but you may not publish the image nor grant licenses to other parties for reproduction. You become the owner of the print, but not the owner of the copyright of the image. By buying a print you agree to abide by English copyright law.

** New Forest ponies and other animals**
The New Forest
Commoners' ponies, cattle, pigs, sheep and donkeys are a popular part of the New Forest scene, but during 2019 agisters attended 159 road traffic accidents involving these animals, a small but disappointing increase on the 154 accidents attended in 2018.

Sadly, 58 animals were killed - 35 ponies, 13 cows, 8 donkeys and 2 sheep, whilst a further 32 were injured - 3 pigs, 9 donkeys, 11 cows and 9 ponies.

(Forty-three accidents occurred in daylight, 15 at twilight and 101 in the dark. Twenty-seven accidents were not reported by the driver involved).

Here's just one horrific example - Three donkeys killed in collision with van at notorious New Forest blackspot (Advertiser and Times)
