Check out these great Walks near Lyndhurst, close to the centre of the New Forest. Many, though, are Walks from Lyndhurst, for most start from the village centre, but also pass close to Forestry Commission or other car parks that provide alternative, mid-way start points.

All these Lyndhurst Walks pass through magnificent landscapes to places where wildlife is likely to be encountered, and where New Forest history can really be appreciated.

Some are relatively short, whilst most of the others can be walked at a gentle pace without too much exertion. And there are no really steep gradients, and no stiles to climb over. Just select the walks that match the time you have available, and the distance you want to cover.

Short Walks near Lyndhurst

1 3 km Take a stroll through Pondhead Inclosure, enjoy the heathland on the White Moor Ridge, and return past Bolton's Bench.   2 6 km Enjoy a walk past Bolton's Bench, and across White Moor to Longwater Lawn.   3 4 km Wander across the old Race Ground, and around the edge of Lyndhurst Golf Course.   4 5.5 km Walk along a quite country lane towards the tiny hamlet of Bank, and return through Brick Kiln Inclosure, Butts Lawn and Park Ground Inclosure. Pubs along the way 5 3.5 km Explore Pikeshill, Emery Down and Swan Green. Pubs along the way 6 4.5 km Visit Millyford Bridge, walk beside Highland Water and through Holmhill and Wooson's Hill Inclosures.

Longer Walks near Lyndhurst

7 9 km Try this walk along Beechen Lane, and go on through Park Ground Inclosure, Park Hill, and Denny, Little Holmhill and Pondhead Inclosures.   8 8.5 km Go across White Moor, through Mallard Wood, alongside the Beaulieu River at Longwater Lawn, and back across Matley Heath.   9 9 km Saunter over the old race ground, and visit Rushpole Wood, Gutter Heath, Brockishill and Busketts Lawn Inclosures.   10 10 km Stroll down Pinkney Lane and through Brick Kiln and Hursthill Inclosures. Walk beside Highland Water and return through Brinken Wood and Gritnam Wood. Pub along the way 11 8.5 km Visit the nearby hamlets of Pikeshill, Emery Down, Allum Green and Swan Green; walk through ancient woodland and take a look at Highland Water. Pubs along the way 12 6.5 km Start at Millyford Bridge and visit Highland Water, Holmhill Inclosure, Wick Wood, Acres Down and Broom Hill.
